Xmasuite 2015

Good morning festive fans.

Here’s a merry little mix of festive favourites of mine I thought you might like to hear. Yes, there are a few classics missing (I simply couldn’t find The Eastern Seas amazing version of Walking in the Air or The Cornshed Sisters: It Smells a lot like Christmas anywhere on YouTube.   Santa by Lightnin’ Hopkins would have made the number 31 and they would have just played havoc with my sense of seasonal symmetry).  But if there’s one thing you can pretty much guarantee at this time of year, it’s that you are ever so probably bloody likely to hear your personal favourite at some point in the yuletide proceedings.

But until then, while you’re tinseling the tree, wrapping up presents, salting up the driveway, perpetuating the lies you tell your children or just battling to stem the ongoing damage from project Desmond storm – then just goodwill up your earholes with this jingling jukebox, my playlist present to you all.

A huge thanks to www.pastemagazine.com for their annual free festive music sampler where a healthy chunk of this list’s content was discovered.  I’m not thanking everyone individually though – far too many eggnogging blank spots makes naming most sources an impossibility.  Thank you though, whoever you are.

Oh, this is a new website by the way – still a work in progress but nearly an entire year seemed a procrastination too far so here it is quietly announced. Do have an explore.  All thoughts and comments are welcome at tracksuite@yahoo.co.uk

Happy festives. May your chestnuts roast pleasingly by the fire.
